The “Monitoring” page

What the panel's monitoring page shows: the server table, the “Trends” charts and where the data comes from.

On this page

The “Monitoring” page (app.blackbox.md/monitoring, sidebar → “Infrastructure” → “Monitoring”) shows how busy your servers are: CPU, memory, disk, network and processes, right now and over time. Metrics appear for servers that have the Monitoring add-on service active (in “Comenzi” (Orders) it is listed as “Monitoring 24/7”).

Available to: any customer signed in to the app.blackbox.md panel. Live metrics: only for your servers with the Monitoring service active.

The blackbox.md website is available in Romanian and Russian; this article quotes the Romanian labels with their English meaning.

What's on the page

At the top you see the title “Monitoring”, the subtitle “Health and audit history for your own servers.” and, on the right, the “Refresh” button. Below them, from top to bottom:

  1. The “Alerts” card: the alerts for your servers from the last 30 days and your notification preferences. Details: Alerts and email notifications.
  2. The “Your servers” table, with the current values for each server.
  3. The “Trends” block: the charts for one server over the range you choose.

Note The page does not refresh on its own. The values in the table are the ones from the moment you opened the page or last clicked “Refresh”. Dates and times on the page are shown in UTC.

How to refresh the data

  1. Click “Refresh” to the right of the “Monitoring” title. While the data loads, the button shows “Refreshing…”.
  2. The table reloads, and the new time appears next to its title, for example “1 server(s) · updated 2026-10-09 09:30 UTC”.
  3. This button does not reload the charts in “Trends”. To get new charts, choose another range or reload the page in your browser.

The “Alerts” card has its own “Refresh” button, which reloads only the list of alerts.

If the table is empty

Without the Monitoring service, the page has no data to show. Instead of the “Your servers” table, you see:

  • the “Fleet risk board” block, with the note “0 server(s) · updated …”;
  • the text “No monitoring data yet for your servers — metrics appear once your servers are audited.”;
  • in “Trends”, an empty server list and the message “No history in the selected range for this server.”

This is normal: the server is working, it just isn't monitored. Servers without the Monitoring service don't appear in the table.

Important The text “…metrics appear once your servers are audited” does not mean that the data will appear by itself. Metrics appear only after the Monitoring service is activated for the server. You can't choose this service when you order on blackbox.md; to find out how to get it, see The Monitoring service: the agent installed on the server.

If you have the Monitoring service and the server still doesn't appear in the table, write to us: How to contact BLACKBOX support.

The “Your servers” table

The table has one row for each server with the Monitoring service, whether the service is active, still connecting or has failed.

Column What it shows
“Server” The server's private name, if you set one (Renaming a server (private name)); otherwise the server name or IP address
“CPU” CPU usage, in %, averaged over all cores for the last 5 minutes
“RAM” Memory in use, in %, not counting the cache memory that the system can free
“Disk” How full the main partition / is, in %. The bar is green below 80%, yellow at 80–89% and red from 90%. Other partitions and disks are not included
“Load (1m)” The load average over the last minute. Compare it with the number of vCPUs in the server's plan
“Processes” The number of processes actually running at that moment, not the total number of processes
“Monitoring” The state of the Monitoring service (see the table below)
“Trend” (button) Opens the server's charts in the “Trends” block

A “—” appears instead of a value when the server has not sent any data yet, for example while the service is “Connecting…”.

The badge in the “Monitoring” column

Badge What it means What to do
“Active” (green) The agent on the server is working and sending metrics Nothing
“Connecting…” (yellow) The service is being activated: the agent is being installed on the server. The values show “—” Wait, then click “Refresh”
“Failed” (red) The agent could not be installed, or the installation needs the team to step in Write to us and name the server
“Managed by BlackBox” (gray) A server of a company managed by BLACKBOX that you have access to Nothing; see below

Servers managed by BLACKBOX

If BLACKBOX has given you access to a company's servers (The “Overview” page), they appear at the end of the table with the “Managed by BlackBox” badge. Their data comes from the BLACKBOX team's monitoring: some columns may stay “—”, and in “Trends” the source may be “Source: nightly audit”, with the charts “Disk usage (max %)”, “RAM usage (MB)” and “Docker containers” (one point per night). Alerts for these servers don't appear in the “Alerts” card.

  1. In the table, click “Trend” on the server's row. The page scrolls down to the “Trends” block, with the server already selected. You can also scroll to “Trends” yourself and choose the server in the first list.
  2. In the second list, choose the range: “1 h”, “6 h”, “24 h”, “7 days”, “30 days” or “90 days”. When you open the page, “24 h” is selected.
  3. The data source appears under the lists: the “LIVE” label, the text “Source: live metrics (Prometheus)” and the note “Prometheus keeps about 15 days of history.”
  4. The charts load (meanwhile you see “Loading history…”). Hold the pointer over a point on a chart to see the exact value.
Chart What it shows
“CPU usage (%)” CPU load, 0–100%
“RAM usage (%)” Memory in use, 0–100%
“Disk usage (%)” How full the / partition is
“Network (bytes/s)” Incoming (“RX bytes/s”) and outgoing (“TX bytes/s”) traffic on all network interfaces, excluding the local interface lo
“Load average (1m)” The 1-minute load average
“Processes” Running processes

The time axis is in UTC.

How much history you see

  • History starts no earlier than the moment you became the server's owner: you don't see data from before that. Live charts have data only from the time the agent started working.
  • Live metrics are kept for about 15 days, so in practice “30 days” and “90 days” show at most the last 15 days or so.
  • Over long ranges, the points on the chart are farther apart, and short spikes may not show. For detail, choose “1 h” or “6 h”.

The message “No history in the selected range for this server.” appears when the server is still “Connecting…” or “Failed”, when the agent has just started and there is no data in the range yet, or when you have no monitored servers.

Tip The charts show the trend, not the cause. To find out which process is loading the server right now, connect over SSH and follow Diagnosing server load (CPU, RAM, disk, network).

Error messages

Errors appear in a red bar: under the page title (for the table) or in the “Trends” block (for the charts). Some appear as a raw technical code.

Message What it means What to do
rate_limited Too many loads within one minute. The limit for your account: 30 loads of the table (opening the page and “Refresh”) and 60 loads of the charts per minute Wait a minute, then reload the page in your browser
panel_monitoring_disabled The monitoring page is temporarily unavailable Come back later; if the message persists, write to us
“Unauthorized”, “Token invalidated” or “Token revoked” Your panel session has expired (it lasts 8 hours) or was ended, for example with “Sign Out Everywhere” Sign in again from “Contul meu” (My account) → “Panou de administrare” (Admin panel) (Opening the app.blackbox.md panel from your account)
“Failed to load monitoring summary”, “Failed to load history” or another technical message The data could not be read Reload the page; if it happens again, write to us

Other panel limits: The “Too many attempts” message and usage limits.

Frequently asked questions

I have a server, but the page says “No monitoring data yet…”. Is something wrong? No. Metrics appear only for servers with the Monitoring service. Without it, the table stays empty no matter how long you wait: The Monitoring service: the agent installed on the server.

How often is the data updated? The agent sends data every 30 seconds. The page reads it when you open the page or click “Refresh”. The CPU and network values are averages over the last 5 minutes.

Why does the 90-day chart show only the last two weeks? Live metrics are kept for about 15 days, so there is no older data.

In “Comenzi” (Orders) the service is “În curs de activare” (Activating), but here the badge is “Failed”. What does that mean? Activation needs the team to step in, for example because the server does not run Ubuntu or Debian. Write to us and name the server.

Can I see data from before I became the server's owner? No. History starts from the moment the server became yours.

Can I get emails when there is a problem on the server? You set up alerts and emails in the “Alerts” card on this same page: Alerts and email notifications.

The CPU is always close to 100%. What should I do? First find the cause: Diagnosing server load (CPU, RAM, disk, network). If this load is normal for your application, move to a larger plan: Server upgrade: moving to a larger plan.
