VPS plans: how to choose
The 21 VPS plans in 5 families, their monthly prices, and how to choose the right family and size.
On this page
The “Planuri VPS” (VPS plans) page (blackbox.md/servers/plans) shows all 21 VPS plans, grouped into 5 families. To open it, click the “Planuri VPS” button in the top bar of the website, or choose “Servere” (Servers) → “Planuri VPS” in the menu. On the home page, the “Servere virtuale” (Virtual servers) section shows only three plans from the Standard family; the full list is on “Planuri VPS”.
Available to: any visitor to blackbox.md. To place an order, you need an account and must be signed in.
The blackbox.md website is available in Romanian and Russian; this article quotes the Romanian labels with their English meaning.
What the page shows
Each family has its own block: the family name with a short description below it. The cards of the plans in that family follow. Each card shows:
- the plan name, for example “Standard M”;
- the monthly price, followed by “MDL/lună” (MDL/month);
- the number of vCPUs, the memory in “GB RAM” and the disk in “GB SSD NVMe”;
- the “Comandă” (Order) button.
The Standard M plan has the “Recomandat” (Recommended) badge and is highlighted on the page.
Each plan is a fixed configuration: the server gets exactly the number of vCPUs, the memory and the disk shown on the card. Prices are monthly, in MDL. For the currency and the billing period, see Prices, currency and billing period.
Note On every card, the disk is shown as “GB SSD NVMe”, whatever the family. Some families state the disk type and speed in the description under their name. For example, the Basic description is “SSD standard, 300 IOPS, disc mare” (standard SSD, 300 IOPS, large disk), and the Standard description is “SSD NVMe 3000 IOPS, echilibrat” (NVMe SSD, 3000 IOPS, balanced).
How to choose a plan
- Open “Planuri VPS” (VPS plans) from the top bar of the website.
- Choose the family based on the type of workload (see the table in the next section).
- Within the chosen family, choose the size based on the RAM and the number of vCPUs your application needs. In Basic, Standard and High-Frequency, the disk grows with the plan size.
- Check the monthly price on the card.
- Click “Comandă” (Order) on the plan's card. The order page for that plan opens, for example
blackbox.md/checkout/plan/vm-iops1-mfor Standard M. If you are not signed in, the website first sends you to the “Autentificare” (Sign in) page, then brings you back to the order.
The next steps (operating system, billing details, SSH key, payment) are described in Placing an order step by step.
Plan families
| Family | Description on the website | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | “SSD standard, 300 IOPS, disc mare” (standard SSD, 300 IOPS, large disk) | lots of disk space: storage, backups, files |
| CPU | “multe vCPU, disc 30 GB, 3000 IOPS” (many vCPUs, 30 GB disk, 3000 IOPS) | compiling (builds) and computation; the disk is 30 GB on every plan |
| Standard | “SSD NVMe 3000 IOPS, echilibrat” (NVMe SSD, 3000 IOPS, balanced) | websites, applications, small databases |
| High-Frequency | “CPU high-frequency + disc mare” (high-frequency CPU + large disk) | databases and more demanding applications |
| High-Frequency Compute | “CPU high-frequency, disc 50 GB” (high-frequency CPU, 50 GB disk) | applications that use a lot of processor power; the disk is 50 GB on every plan |

Catalog limits
The most the VPS plans offer is 16 vCPUs, 64 GB RAM and 400 GB of disk. No plan combines all three: only High-Frequency Compute L has 16 vCPUs and 64 GB RAM (with a 50 GB disk), and only Basic XL and High-Frequency M have a 400 GB disk.
If you need more, see Dedicated servers or write to us: How to contact BLACKBOX support.
Choose the family carefully
Important From the panel, you can only move to a larger plan in the same family. You cannot change the family, and you cannot move to a smaller plan. In the CPU and High-Frequency Compute families, an upgrade adds vCPUs and RAM, but the disk stays at 30 GB and 50 GB respectively.
If you know you will need a lot of disk space, choose Basic, Standard or High-Frequency from the start. How to upgrade: Server upgrade: moving to a larger plan.
The plan code in the panel
After activation, the server appears in the app.blackbox.md panel, on the “My Servers” page. On the server card, the “Plan” field shows the plan code, for example vm-iops1-m for Standard M. The same code also appears in the address of the order page.
| Start of the code | Family |
|---|---|
vm-basic1- |
Basic |
vm-cores30- |
CPU |
vm-iops1- |
Standard |
vm-hfq1- |
High-Frequency |
vm-hfq50- |
High-Frequency Compute |
The end of the code is the size: xs, s, m, l, xl or xxl. For example, vm-cores30-xxl is CPU XXL.
You may also come across other codes: vps-hosting-1, vps-hosting-2 and vps-hosting-3 are the plans described in “VPS hosting” plans with a control panel, and vps-2, vps-3 and vps-4 are retired plans (see the next section).
The “Plan” field shows the plan the server was ordered with. After an upgrade, you can see the current resources in the “Spec” field. The server card is described in The “My Servers” page: the server card.
The configurator and the old plans
On September 25, 2026, the configurator, where you chose the processor, memory and disk yourself, was retired and replaced by the fixed plans above. The address blackbox.md/servers/configurator now redirects you to “Planuri VPS” (VPS plans).
The old plans vps-2, vps-3 and vps-4 can no longer be ordered. If you open an old order link for one of them, you land on the “Planuri VPS” page with the message “Planul anterior a fost înlocuit. Mai jos găsiți tarifele actuale, cu caracteristici similare.” (The previous plan has been replaced. Below are the current plans with similar specifications.) Choose the current plan with the resources you need.
Servers already ordered on the old plans or through the configurator keep working, with no changes.
Frequently asked questions
What does the “Recomandat” (Recommended) badge mean? The badge highlights the Standard M plan on the page. Its price and resources are the ones shown on the card, with no special conditions.
What is the difference between Basic M and Standard M? Both have 2 vCPUs and 4 GB RAM. Basic M has a 100 GB “SSD standard, 300 IOPS” (standard SSD, 300 IOPS) disk and costs 662 MDL/month. Standard M has a 40 GB “SSD NVMe 3000 IOPS” (NVMe SSD, 3000 IOPS) disk and costs 578 MDL/month. Choose Basic for disk space, Standard for disk speed.
Can I order a configuration that is not on the list, for example 16 vCPUs with a 200 GB disk? Not from the website: you can only order the plans on the list. For a larger configuration, see Dedicated servers or write to us.
Does the price depend on the operating system? No. You pay the price of the plan; you choose the operating system from the available list when you order. See Available operating systems.
I have a server on the vps-2, vps-3 or vps-4 plan. Can I upgrade it?
Not from the panel. For these plans, the upgrade window shows “This server's plan can't be upgraded this way — contact support.” For a larger configuration, write to us.
