“VPS hosting” plans with a control panel

The “VPS hosting 1”, “VPS hosting 2” and “VPS hosting 3” plans are ordered from the blackbox.md home page, in the “VPS cu ispmanager” (VPS with ispmanager) section (https://blackbox.md/#pricing-vps-hosting). The “Vezi planurile” (See plans) button at the top of the page takes you straight there. Unlike the plans in VPS plans: how to choose, here you don't choose an operating system, and the plan can be changed only through support.

The blackbox.md website is available in Romanian and Russian; this article quotes the Romanian labels with their English meaning.

Plans and prices

• Prices are monthly, in MDL. Details: Prices, currency and billing period.
• The “VPS Popular” (Popular VPS) card at the top of the home page (shown on large screens, 950 MDL/month, with the “Comandă acum” (Order now) button) is the VPS hosting 2 plan. It opens the same order as the “Comandă” (Order) button on the VPS hosting 2 card.
• Each card also shows the line “ispmanager 6”. Before you order, read the section about the control panel below.

How to order

These plans have no “Sistem de operare” (Operating system) step.

1. On the home page, in the “VPS cu ispmanager” (VPS with ispmanager) section, click “Comandă” (Order) on the card of the plan you want.

2. If you are not signed in, the sign-in page opens. After you sign in (or sign up), you return to the order automatically.

3. If the “Date de facturare” (Billing details) step appears, choose the profile for the invoice and click “Continuă” (Continue). If you don't want to use a profile, select “Fără date de facturare” (No billing details) and click “Continuă fără date de facturare” (Continue without billing details). 4. If the “Cheie SSH pentru server” (SSH key for the server) step appears, tick a key under “Chei salvate” (Saved keys) or paste one into “Sau lipiți o cheie publică SSH” (Or paste a public SSH key) and click “Continuă”. To go on without a key, click “Continuă fără cheie” (Continue without a key). See The SSH key at order time and “key-only” servers.

   When you add a key, the “Dezactivează autentificarea prin parolă (doar cheie SSH)” (Disable password authentication (SSH key only)) option is ticked automatically: the server will accept SSH connections only with the key. You can untick it before you continue.

5. The message “Se plasează comanda…” (Placing your order…) appears. The order is created with the status “Nou” (New) and a number in the format BBX-YYYY-NNNNNN, you receive the email “Am primit solicitarea dumneavoastră — BBX-…” (We have received your request — BBX-…), and your browser opens the payment page.

6. Pay for the order by card or from your balance: Paying by card (Paynet), Paying for an order from your balance.

Warning If no step is shown, the order is created as soon as the page opens, with the message “Se plasează comanda…”. Do not reload the page while you see this message, and do not click “Comandă” again: every retry creates one more “Nou” order. Cancel the extra orders: “Contul meu” (My account) → “Comenzi” (Orders) → “Anulează comanda” (Cancel the order) → “Da, anulează” (Yes, cancel).

The control panel: what to check

• The cards and the section title mention ispmanager. However, when you order, you don't choose a control panel and you get no confirmation about it: which panel will be installed, how it is licensed, and how you will receive the login details. Ask support before you order. If you have not received the login details for the control panel after activation, ask support for them.
• You don't choose the operating system: BLACKBOX decides the server image. The installed system is shown in the “Serverul dvs. este gata — BBX-…” (Your server is ready — BBX-…) email, on the “Sistem de operare” (Operating system) line.
• This email contains the access details for the server: the IP address, the user root and the password. For a “key-only” server, instead of the password, the email says that you connect with your SSH key. The login details for the control panel are not in this email.
• The control panel on the server is not the app.blackbox.md panel, where you manage the server: the root password, reboots, deletion.

Changing the plan

You can't change a “VPS hosting” plan from the panel. In the app.blackbox.md panel, under “My Servers”, the server card shows the code vps-hosting-1, vps-hosting-2 or vps-hosting-3 next to “Plan”. If you click “Upgrade”, the “Upgrade server” window does not offer other plans; instead, it shows the message “This server's plan can't be upgraded this way — contact support.”

To switch to another plan, write to support and include the order number (BBX-…) and the plan you want. The panel upgrade described in Server upgrade: moving to a larger plan works only for the VPS plans.

Everything else works as for the VPS plans

• activation and emails: After payment: server activation and emails;
• the root password: Showing root credentials, Resetting the root password;
• starting and stopping: Rebooting, stopping and starting a server;
• monthly renewal: Monthly renewal and paying on time;
• cancellation and deletion: Order cancellation and refunds, Permanently deleting a server.

Frequently asked questions

How are these different from the plans on blackbox.md/servers/plans? There you choose one of the 21 VPS plans and the operating system, from a list that contains no control panels, and you upgrade from the panel. The “VPS hosting” plans are ordered without choosing a system, and the plan can be changed only through support.

Are the “VPS + ispmanager” and “VPS + Hestia” pages in the “Găzduire” (Hosting) menu the same plans? No. They are information pages, and their “Vezi planurile VPS” (See VPS plans) button opens the regular VPS plans. The VPS hosting 1–3 plans are ordered from the “VPS cu ispmanager” (VPS with ispmanager) section on the home page.

I have two “Nou” (New) orders for the same plan. Will I pay twice? No, unless you pay for both of them. Each order is paid separately, from its own payment page, and nothing is charged automatically for an unpaid order. Cancel the extra one in “Comenzi” (Orders): the confirmation reads “Comanda nu a fost achitată, deci nu se efectuează nicio returnare. Acțiunea nu poate fi anulată.” (The order has not been paid, so no refund is made. This action cannot be undone.) Click “Da, anulează” (Yes, cancel).
